At our May event, Catholic speaker and author Ed Van Buskirk, founder of If U Love Me, delivered a practical, faith-centered talk on applying the Ten Commandments to everyday business life. He stressed that the Commandments are not merely rules, but a framework for fostering ethical behavior and building strong, lasting relationships—key elements of professional success. Van Buskirk encouraged attendees to discern their “One Thing,” the central purpose God is calling them to prioritize, and to align their decisions accordingly. He also emphasized that personal integrity, consistency, and commitment to Christian values shape how others perceive us in professional environments.

A central theme of the presentation was the importance of relationships, illustrated through the “3+7” structure of the Ten Commandments—three governing our relationship with God and seven guiding our relationships with others. Van Buskirk explained that a strong connection with God naturally enhances professional interactions, transforming work into an opportunity for service, trust, and authenticity. He also highlighted the role of order, comparing a life grounded in faith to a well-orchestrated symphony that brings clarity and peace. Concluding with a call to discipleship, he reminded attendees that living out their faith in the workplace is a powerful witness, and that faithfully focusing on their “One Thing” can positively transform both their work and personal lives.
